EMMA MILNE INTERIORS

Guided by a strong, understated aesthetic and a commitment towards clarity, craftsmanship and natural materials we create homes that are imbued with an atmosphere of elevated ease.

Studio

We are a UK-based interior design studio creating timeless, nurturing homes that are understated, authentic and restful.

Our studio is led by Emma Milne who personally oversees each project. Emma has worked in the interior design industry for 18 years including seven years as a senior designer at Plain English Cupboardmakers where her skills in project management and spatial design were honed. Emma’s eye for proportion, her confidence with colour and her passion for quality craftsmanship continue to define our practice today.

who we are

People and place are at the heart of each of our projects and it is through a thorough and thoughtful understanding of both the building, its location and its inhabitants that we hope to create a personalised backdrop through which individuality and personal expression can thrive. We love seeing a building stripped back to its original features before making any design decisions. Only then do we apply our understanding of light, volume and spatial planning to enhance the authentic character of your home.

people and places

Our homes evolve and change over time to meet our needs which is why, when we embark on a new project, we adopt a long-term vision for your home. This vision is underpinned by our expectations of quality and longevity and filters through to every design decision.

The materials we gravitate towards support this spirit of longevity. We are drawn to natural materials that are inherently beautiful and practical, that connect us to the history of our homes and help us to feel grounded. The use of natural materials also supports our commitment to sustainable design. Similarly, the fixtures, fittings and equipment we specify – including flooring, fabrics, furniture, art and antiques – are chosen with only your home in mind and always with a strict eye on quality and longevity.

Unswayed by trends

We offer a full interior design service and are happiest seeing a house stripped back to its bones, its authentic character and original features revealed. Our task is then to expertly guide you through the key decisions on spatial planning and the materials, colours, furniture and objects you wish to live alongside. As part of this service, we are able to support you with project management to ensure a seamless, creatively fulfilling process and uncompromising finish.

Drawing on Emma’s experience at Plain English Cupboardmakers, we also offer an independent kitchen design service as well as a separate full or half-day consultancy service. This enables you to tap into the expertise and experience of our team without committing to our full interior design service. Please contact us for more information.
